Electrojazziness
Who We Are
Electrojazziness is a genre-defying improvisational duo that fuses jazz, electronica, and freestyle into an electrifying live experience. Our music is 100% improvised and performed live. Using a few loopers to produce real-time compositions, our piano melodies, synth lines, electronic beats, and freestyle rhymes unfold organically on stage.
The project features jazz pianist Alex McNally-Gagnon (Montreal, QC) and producer/vocalist thisissami (Nelson, BC/Palestine)—two life-long improvisers from different musical backgrounds who converged to create something entirely new. Electrojazziness began as a street performance project in 2024, with the duo staging spontaneous concerts in Montreal’s parks to hone their jazz-meets-electronica concept.
Using grant funding, they additionally developed what they call “Story Jams,” where the audience directs a story that they bring to life using their impressive improvisational skills.

Live in Vancouver, BC
This was the 2nd set of the Vancouver concert in our 15-show tour in the spring of 2025. The first set was a Story Jam that we have yet to upload online. “Larry” is mentioned a few times in the freestyles; he was the main character of our Story Jam, and is a quirky porcupine created by our audience.
Downtempo Jam, Environmentalist Freestyle
In our 2025 tour, we had a few days off on Salt Spring Island. On one of those days, we chose to explore making slower, downtempo music together. We really liked the result! We hope you do too. 😊
Groovy Medley
Here are 13 minutes of our favorite moments from a 2 hour practice jam in the middle of our tour last spring. Do you think it’s fun? 😁
Origins: Park Concert in Montreal
Electrojazziness began as a series of impromptu concerts that activated public spaces in Montreal, Canada. Here’s a favorite moment from our final concert before Sami moved back to BC.
Many of our jams have featured guest musicians and vocalists; this one features a bassist named Antoine.
